Songwriting Retreat 2014

Vorgestern bin ich aus Andalusien zurückgekommen, wo ich leider gar kein Internet hatte. Der Grund für meine Reise dorthin war ein 1-wöchiger Songwriting Workshop bei dem wir jeden Tag in Gruppen von 2-4 Leute Songs schreiben mussten. Diese wurden dann am Abend live performed. Ich habe auf diesem Blog bisher weitgehend nichts Musik relevantes gepostet weil ich eigentlich abwarten wollte, bis ich mein Album fertig habe etc. Aber vielleicht ist es auch keine schlechte Idee, jetzt schon meine musikalischen Erlebnisse mit euch zu teilen:) Mehr dazu gibt es später. Doch nochmal zurück zum Songrwitiing Retreat: Ich habe dort wahnsinning nette und talentierte Leute kennenlernen dürfen und wir haben viele, richtig gute Lieder zusammen geschrieben. Leider darf ich davon kein Videomaterial veröffentlichen weil die Lieder dann unter Umständen ihren Marktwert verlieren. Es ist aber durchaus möglich, dass Ihr irgendwann mal einen, der dort entstandenen Songs im Radio hört, denn mit im Team waren auch einige professionelle Songwriter mit Publishing Deals, die die Lieder direkt an Künstler vermarkten können. Vier der professionellen Songwriter waren sogar international angesehende Hit-Songwriter, die schon für Künstler wie Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Celine Dion und LeeAnnRimes Stücke geschrieben haben. Da wir jeden Tag von Morgens bis Abends sehr gefordert wurden, war ich am Ende des Woche komplett ausgelaugt. Der krönende Abschluss war dann “Vueling Airlines”, die mich, als jemand der schon alles an schlechtem Flugservice gesehen hat was es so gibt, noch negativ überraschen konnten. Als ich um vier Uhr nachts in Kiev ankam, stellte ich fest, dass Vueling meinen Koffer verloren hat. Gewundert hat es mich nicht. Trotz allem war es eine wirklich einzigartige Erfahrung dort mitzumachen und ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen, der an Songwriting als Hobby oder auch Beruf interssiert ist. //The day before yesterday I came back from Andalusia, where I unfortunately had no internet at all. The reason for my trip to Spain was a a one week songwriting workshop where we´ve been writing songs in groups of 2-5 every day which then would be performed live on the same evening. On this blog I have never posted much about my music because I was actually planning to wait with that until my first album is ready to be released. But maybe it´s also not a bad idea to share my music related experience with you guys right now, as it happens. I will talk more about that later. Coming back to the songwriting retreat: I was lucky enough to meet lots of really nice and talented people there and we wrote many quite good songs. Unfortunately I am not allowed to publish video material of the live performances given that this might result in those songs losing their market value afterwards. However, it is indeed possible that one day you will hear some of the songs created during that week in the radio as we had a number of professional songwriters with publishing deals in our team who have the possibility to pitch the songs to artists. Four of the professional songwriters were even internationally renowned hit songwriters who wrote for big artists like Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Celine Dion or LeeAnnRimes. As we were giving all our energy and concentration from the morning to the evening, I was completely drained at the end of the week, The crowning glory of all that was my “Vueling Airlines” flight which, though I thought I had experienced every facet of bad service with Ryan Air already, managed to negatively surprise me. When I finally arrived in Kiev at 4 o´clock in the morning, I realised they had lost my bag. Part of me had expected that... Despite that, it has really been an amazing experience to participate in the retreat and I can really recommend this to everyone who is interested in songwriting or even wants to make a career out of it. Boys Trip Pt 3

Etwas verspätet kommt jetzt der letzte Teil meiner Moskalenki Bilder. Hier waren wir in der Sauna. In der Ukraine geht man mit Hut, sowie in ein riesiges Leinenbettlaken gehüllt, in die Sauna. Das mit dem Hut verstehe ich zwar nicht ganz aber ich finde das immernoch besser als in der Ossisauna, wo jeder zeigt was er zu bieten hat. Doch letzterem kann man auch in der Ukrainischen Sauna nicht immer vorbeugen, wie wir hier dank Photoshop bei Vlad nicht erkennen können. Ihr könnt euch nicht vorstellen wir ich mich totgelacht habe,als ich später durch meine Fotos gegangen bin und gesehen habe, was Vlad hier ganz subtill auf´s Bild geschmuggelt hat. Ja ich weiß, meinem Humor könnte ein bisschen mehr Niveau auch nicht schaden... Diesen Samstag fliege ich übrigens nach Andalusien! Habt eine schöne Restwoche...

//Now comes, with a bit of a delay, the last part of my Moskalenki pictures. Here we went to the Sauna. In Ukraine you go to the Sauna dressed up in a hat and white linen bed sheets. Though I dont really get the benefits of wearing a hat in a Sauna, I do prefer it over the typical Eastern German Sauna where everybody shows what they got. Unofrtunately, even in a Ukrainian sauna the latter cannot always be avoided, as shown in the last photograph..Or rather not shown thanks to my photoshop skills. You can´t imagine how hard I was laghing when I went through my pictures and suddenly spotted, what Vlad subtly smuggled in the pciture. Yeah, I know... my sense of humour could use a bit of sophistication, too. By the way, this saturday I´ll be flying to Andalusia (Spain)! Have a nice rest of the week.
