Chanel Love

Letztes Wochenende habe ich wieder einmal einen genialen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der wirtschaftlichen Lage in der Ukraine geleistet. Ich besaß bis dato keine Sonnenbrille, woraufhin mein Freund mir ganz verständnisvoll anbot, das Thema mal anzugehen. Nach dem dritten Tag Sonnenbrillen aufprobieren, an dem mir leider immernoch nichts gefiel, war es ihm dann bereits egal welche ich nehme, Hauptsache, es ist bald vorbei. Zu seinem großen Glück hat mir nach vielen Stunden endlich eine Sonnebrille gefallen, und das war natürlich eine aus der limitierten “Jewellry Collection” (Schmuck Kollektion) von Chanel. Davon abgesehen, dass ich auch mit einer normalen Chanel Brille schon weit über meine Verhältnisse leben würde, hat diese Elemente aus reinem Gold und ist angelehnt an Coco Chanels Haute Couture Jewellry Collection aus dem Jahr 1932. Derzeit ist sie überall ausverkauft und das, dank meiner Hilfe, auch in Kiev. Jetzt muss ich es nur noch schaffen, mich nicht aus Versehen raufzusetzen.

//Last weekend I´ ve once again contributed to the improvement of the economic situation in Ukraine. Given that to date I didn´t possess any sunglasses, my boyfriend understandingly offered to properly approach this issue with me.  After the third day of trying on sunglasses though, when I unfortunately still didn´t like anything, he already didn´t care anymore which model I´d choose, as long as it would be over soon. It was his great fortune that after many hours on sunday, I finally found a pair of sunglasses I really liked. These ones were of course from the limited “Jewellry Collection” by Chanel. Apart from the fact that already with normal Chanel glasses I would be living above my means, these ones contain elements of pure gold and are inspired by Coco Chanel´s Haute Couture Jewelry collection from 1932. At the moment it´s sold out everywhere, and thanks to me, in Kiev as well. Now I´ve been assigning myself the difficult task to not to accidentally sit on it again. 

Relaxed Weekend

Hier sind noch ein paar Bilder von Sonntag, unserem letzten Tag in Moskalenki (Name des Dorfes). Es war richtig heiß und wir haben den ganzen Tag am Wasser gechillt und Cirniki gegessen. Cirniki sind kleine, ukrainische Käseküchlein, die in der Pfanne gebraten werden und heiß,   als Dessert, gegessen werden. Man sieht sie in ihrer vollen Schönheit im letzten Bild. Dann haben wir noch eine kleine Bootstour gemacht, mehr oder weniger unfreiwillig da unsere Sitzkissen in Wasser gefallen sind und wir es nicht übers Herz bringen konnten, sie für immer davonschwimmen zu lassen. Ich habe natürlich gerudert und wiedereinmal großes Talent bewiesen, vorallem beim Lenken. 

//Here are some more pictures from sunday, our last day in Moskalenki (that´s the name of the village). It was really hot and we were chilling by the river all day eating Cirniki. Cirniki are little, Ukranian cheesecakes, which are being fried in the pan and served hot. You can see them in all their beauty on the last picture. Then we did a little boat trip, more or less voluntarily, as two of our sitting cushions fell into the water and we couldn´t just be so heartless and let them drift away. I have, as one would expect, taken the responsibilty for phsically moving the boat. And it seems that rowing is another one of my great talents, especially when it comes to changing the direction of the boat.

Fishing under a pink sky

Wer mich kennt, wird wissen, was für ein passionierter Fischer ich bin. Ich habe Intuition und Geschick, was es mir ermöglicht in fast jedem Gewässer einen Lachs oder auch einen Thunfisch zu fangen. Dasselbe erwarte ich, in geringerem Ausmaß natürlich, auch von meinen Fischerkollegen.  Als wir dieses Wochenende in unserem Ferienhaus waren (das liegt in einem kleinen, ukrainischen Dorf), welches praktischerweise über einen kleinen Bootssteg verfügt, habe ich meinen Freund gebeten, mir einen kleinen Lachs zu fangen. Leider fing er nichts über 5 Zentimeter. Dafür war der Himmel schön pink und ich habe mich meiner Spiegelreflexkamera zugewendet. 
Die Bilder sind, mit Ausnahme der schwarz-weiß Aufnahme, komplett unbearbeitet. Es ist wirklich Wahnsinn, was die Natur für Farben hervorbringt! Nächstes Wochenende fahren wir vielleicht wieder dort hin, dann möchte ich aber Resultate sehen. Habt eine schöne Woche :-)

//Those who know me will know what a passionate fisherman I am. I have intuition and skills, which enable me to easily catch a salmon or a tuna in almost all waters.  Of course, I expect the same, to a lesser extend, from my fellow fisherman. So, when we visited our country house this weekend (situated in a little Ukrainian village), which luckily disposes of a little boat port, I kindly asked my boyfriend to catch me a little salmon. Unfortunately, he didn´t catch anything longer than 5 centimeters. On the other hand, the sky was really nicely pink and I turned my attention to my DSLR. 

The pictures are, with the exception of the black and white photo, completely non edited. Crazy, what kind of colours our planet is able to produce! Next weekend we might drive there again, and if we do, I want to see results. Have a good week everyone :-)

Dinner Date

Letzten Freitag haben mein Freund und ich einen besonderen Tag gefeiert und sind dafür in ein ukrainisches, sehr romantisches Restaurant gegangen. Wir kamen von der Arbeit und ich hatte eine kleine persönliche Krise weil keine Zeit mehr war, irgendetwas mit meinen Haaren zu machen. Dann sah ich dieses Rosenkränzchen, was ich mir eigentlich für eine anstehende Balkan Party gekauft habe und dachte mir: “Warum eigentlich nicht?” Das Restaurant hat einen sehr niedlichen Balkon mit Blick auf den Wald; dort saßen wir. Mein Lieblingsgericht der ukrainischen Küche ist “grüner Borschtsch”, das ist so eine Suppe auf Brennesselbasis. Und Vareniki (Teigtaschen) mit Sauerkirschen gefüllt, ein typisches ukrainisches Dessert. So, genug Trivialitäten für heute, habt eine schöne Woche! :-)

//Last friday my boyfriend and I celebrated a special day by going to a very romantic, Ukrainian restaurant. As we had little time between work and the restaurant, I had a little personal crisis because I didn´t have any time left for doing my hair. Then I saw this little rose head band which I had initially bought for some upcoming Balkan party and thought: Why actually not? The restaurant itself has a very cute balcony with view on a forest; this is where we sat. My favorite dish from the Ukrainian cuisine is “Green Borshtsh”, basically a stinging nettle soup.  Apart from that I love “Vareniki” (like dumplings) with sour cherries, a typical Ukrainian dessert.
